| Overview: In order to better educate and engage the public, MCCR has commissioned two research projects titled Miner Notes. Both projects were completed by youth and were intended to provide information about the community to the public. With this information, educated decisions can be made about Miner County's future. |

Miner Notes 2002
During the summer of 2002, MCCR hired six Howard High School students to research the followings topics: population, elderly, transfer payments, free and reduced school lunches, agriculture, income and poverty, wind energy, and social capital. Dr. Daryl Hobbs from the University of Missouri assisted the students in their analysis. This information was presented to the public and public officials in the form of PowerPoint Presentations. |

Miner Notes 2000
During the summer of 2000, MCCR hired Matt Liable, a recent graduate of
Howard High School to research the following topics. These topics
included: population loss, transfer payments, the future, trends in
agriculture, land ownership in agriculture, sales in agriculture, and
personal income. Once completed, the stories were published in the
Miner County Pioneer and Canova Herald. |
