Mark Your Calendars to be in Howard

Contact Person: Teresa Poppen poppent@alliancecom.net

The Hometown Holidays committee is hoping that you have already marked Sunday, December 1st on your calendar as a day to spend in Howard. The committee is organizing an afternoon into the early evening full of enjoyable things to do here at home.

Now is the time to start thinking about how your business, church, organization or club could be represented in the Hometown Holidays Parade. Prizes will be awarded for 1st and 2nd place for the best entries in the parade.

The parade subcommittee encourages participants to use lighting if possible and to design an entry that could be used as a home/yard decoration after the parade during the holidays. If you have any questions pertaining to the parade, please contact co-chairs Tim Peters or Mike Knutson.

Participating local businesses will be open from 2:00 p.m. through 6:00 p.m. to assist you in your holiday shopping. (Stores will be closed during the parade.)

Come and enjoy an old-fashioned horse and wagon ride provided by Walt Schaefer of Schaefer Belgian Farms, Inc. from 2:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Nothing tastes better than a hot bowl of soup on a cold December day. The Miner County Historical Society will be hosting a soup supper fundraiser during the event at the Howard American Legion Hall (watch for details in upcoming ads.)

To add to the atmosphere of the day, carolers are being sought out. If you belong to a group or organization that would be interested in sharing the holidays with others while caroling, please call Faye Oines at 772-4646.

Anyone interested in participating or being involved in the planning stages of this event, please contact Faye Oines.
