Senator Tim Johnson visits Miner County

Contact Person: Emily Feldhaus 772-5153

Senator Tim Johnson along with staff assistant Jessica Fauteck made a stop in Miner County to be updated on local developments.

Johnson was unable to personally attend an Energy Fair hosted by the high school students a few weeks ago. He visited the school and learned about the presentation and websites first hand on Friday, April 25, 2003. The project was funded by an “ING Innovation Education Award” received by Mary Stangohr.

Johnson learned more about renewable energy by touring the Energy Maintenance Service (EMS) branch in Howard’s Industrial Park where he met with Steve Scott, EMS Vice President of Business Development and EMS staff Jake Sprang, Mick Kidd and Shawn Kidd.

Other stops included the Children’s Care Corner (CCC) where he discussed early childhood education needs in the state with Sandi Schmit, Children’s Care Corner director and staff members Lori Hanson, preschool teacher and Lisa Walter, teacher’s aide.

Before leaving the county, Johnson also took time to visit with MCCR and Rural Learning Center staff about rural community development initiatives going on in Miner County and the state as a whole.

“A lot of communities are keeping their eyes on Miner County,” Johnson said.
