In the News PRESS RELEASES Miner County residents of all ages worked together to paint a home in Canova last weekend. Contact Person: Mike Knutson – 772-5153; knutsonm@alliancecom.net Over 21 volunteers made up of Miner County Community Revitalization, (MCCR) board, staff, committee members and county residents put in over 100 hours in a two-day period to scrape, prime and paint the home.
MCCR was awarded funds from the South Dakota Housing Development Authority’s (SDHDA) 2002 Paint South Dakota Campaign to locally purchase paint and primer. Other community members supported the project through donating food and paint supplies. Over 21 gallons of paint and primer were used on the two-story home. “This project like so many others is just an example of what can be accomplished when people work together,” Mike Knutson, MCCR Economic Development/Housing Director said. “I would personally like to thank the volunteers who made this project such a success.” MCCR volunteers will also be painting a home in Carthage the weekend of July 13th through the same program. Statewide the SDHDA has awarded funds for the painting of forty homes within city limits as part of the 2002 Paint South Dakota Campaign. Various volunteer community groups will complete the painting by July 13th. |
