Contact Person: Emily Feldhaus 772-5153

Miner County Community Revitalization (MCCR) has scheduled its Annual Meeting for Sunday, April 27, 2003 at 6:00 p.m. at the Howard Armory. The meeting is also being held in conjunction with National Volunteer Recognition Week of April 27, 2003 to May 3, 2003.

The evening will start with a meal served by Mentele’s Rustic Diner. Local students will help to serve a meal that includes pork loin sandwiches, corn, macaroni salad, chips and cake made by local cake decorators.

Kristi Holler will provide the entertainment and dinner music prior to the meeting. Holler is a singer/songwriter, keyboardist/pianist from Sioux Falls. In the last 10 years, she has performed for many different audiences across the region, including performances at the Washington Pavillion in Sioux Falls. She has released several CD’s that will be for sale at the event.

A PowerPoint presentation entitled “Reflections of 2002” will be accompanied by Miner County’s own Denny Mentele singing Montgomery Gentry’s hit single “My Town.”

Along with a short MCCR business meeting, Kerstin Gorham, Community Venture Lead from the Northwest Area Foundation will be in attendance to speak about the NWAF partnership in Miner County.

Dr. Jim Beddow, Executive Director of the Rural Learning Center (RLC) will speak about current updates. Lon Stroschein from Sen. Tom Daschle’s staff will speak about the preliminary funding that MCCR and the RLC has recently secured.

“The evening will provide an evening of entertainment, fellowship and a way for the community to be updated as to what MCCR has been a part of in the last year, MCCR Executive Director, Randy Parry said.

The Learning and Evaluation Team co-chaired by Loren Scott and Dick Poppen will also outline the report they compiled for the NWAF regarding the progress made to date since the Community Venture Partnership was signed in February of 2001.

The event will also feature a printed program highlighting the events that MCCR has been a part of since its formation as a formal entity in March of 1999.

The public is invited to come to share in the evening. Anyone having questions regarding the meeting is encouraged to call the MCCR office at 772-5153.
