In the News PRESS RELEASES Free Business Workshops Offered Date: April 21, 2003 Contact Person: Mike Knutson For the first two Saturday mornings in April, six male and female entrepreneurs have received answers to their question about starting and owning businesses. Through free workshops, these entrepreneurs have been able to connect to business consultant Bernie Schramm of the Center for Women in Sioux Falls via computer technology at the Howard High School. We want to help people in South Dakota that want to start a business or improve their existing one, says Bernie Schramm. We realize that folks are facing a big challenge, and what we hope to do is smooth the way for them. The motivation for attending these classes has been quite varied. Some of the attendees are currently in business and are looking for advice, while others are looking to start a business in the future. Some envision starting businesses that will employ people, while others are looking to develop part-time ventures that can be combined with their current full-time employment. Regardless of the motivation, the classes offer an opportunity to hear new ideas and ask questions. "Its been neat to be able to tap into Bernie's expertise and network with people from various communities around the state," says Mike Knutson. "I've heard some neat ideas and suggestions from the participants as well." These workshops will continue for the next six Saturdays. The topics to be discussed include:
Anyone interested with questions may contact Mike Knutson at the MCCR Office, 772-5153 or Bernie Schramm at 605-331-6721. Participants must pre-register so that printed materials are available at the workshop. Participants may attend as many of the sessions are they are interested. |
