In the News PRESS RELEASES Community residents learn more about Miner County Community Revitalization Contact Person: Emily Feldhaus 772-5153 Miner County Community Revitalization (MCCR) hosted their Annual Meeting last Sunday night to over 300 people and guests as part of an effort to continually update the community as to the opportunities and accomplishments in the county.
The evening began with entertainment by Kristi Holler Music who also led the crowd in sinigng the “Star Spangled Banner.” A meal was served by Mentele’s Rustic Diner and Reverend Bob Adams gave the invocation. Following the approval of last year’s minutes and the 2002 fiscal year financial report, Lois Perrine was elected to the MCCR Board of Directors to fill the vacant seat representing Canova. Other Board members re-elected were Robin Gudahl, Max Schwader and Dick Peterson. Loren Scott gave a summary of the Learning and Evaluation Team’s report on Miner County’s progress toward the Community Plan with the NWAF. Kerstin Gorham from the NWAF Miner County Team spoke about their continued work in the county and congratulated the county for all of the positive work that has been done and what lies ahead. “I think there are challenges Miner County faces and there is a need for a shared vision to put aside old assumptions and perceptions and continue to build on the networks we have of people working together,” Randy Parry MCCR Executive Director said. Dr. Jim Beddow Executive Director of the Rural Learning Center (RLC)and Lon Stroschein from Senator Daschle’s staff spoke about the developments of the Rural Learning Center. The Center has secured partial funding of $450,000 from the U. S. Appropriations committee for the initial building of the Center with the possibility of more in the next fiscal year. Kathy Callies gave the closing and the people in attendance were given a 12 page annual report including updates.
