MCCR to host 3rd Annual Meeting on Sunday

Miner County Community Revitalization has scheduled its 3rd Annual Meeting for Sunday, April 28, 2002 at 6:00 p.m. at the Howard Armory.

The evening will start with a meal served by Karen Mutziger and helpers also featuring the local entertainment of Howard Fish and his poetry.

Local students have been involved in preparing PowerPoint presentations for the evening. Maria Feller has created a presentation entitled “Miner County Happenings” which showcases the past year’s events. Christine Dold’s presentation entitled “Dakota Winds” will feature wind power generation in Miner County. Energy Maintenance Services representatives will also be there to comment on their new role in the community.

“We hope the evening will provide some useful information to the people of Miner County as to what MCCR is all about,” MCCR Executive Director, Randy Parry said. “It’s an evening to reflect on past accomplishments, lessons learned and look forward to the opportunities ahead.

The meeting will also include reports from MCCR Board committees regarding Economic Development, Housing, Capacity Building, Public Relations and Finance issues. New business will include proposed changes to the bylaws and articles of incorporation of MCCR as well as a report on the activity revisions to the Community Plan as adopted just over a year ago. An election of MCCR Board of Directors will also be conducted as part of the business meeting.

The newly formed Learning and Evaluation Team co-chaired by Loren Scott and Dick Poppen will be introduced. Loren Scott will present the indicators that need to be met to continue the implementation of the Community Plan with the Northwest Area Foundation.

Phyllis Lauer will report on the volunteerism efforts in the county that have been essential to the work of MCCR and so many other organizations.

Jim Beddow, Executive Director for the Center for Rural Collaboration and Partnerships will also outline the purpose of the Center. He started duties on April 1st.
