Miner County Community Revitalization (MCCR) has scheduled its Annual Meeting for Sunday, April 27, 2003 at 6:00 p.m. at the Howard Armory. The public is invited.

Entertainment by Kristi Holler, a singer/songwriter, keyboardist/pianist from Sioux Falls will provide dinner music. Holler will be singing all original music along with a few patriotic songs. She has released several CD’s that will be for sale at the event.

When Kristi was 7 years old, she began playing piano under the instruction of her grandmother. She was affected with a hearing impairment that was recognized when she was in the 3rd grade. She didn’t have surgery on her ear until she was 20 years old. The outcome of the surgery was amazingly positive as she regained much of her hearing in one ear. Kristi has released several CD’s all of which are self-produced and recorded. Kristi studied music at SDSU and graduated from Augustana College with a Bachelor of Arts degree. Her music speaks of life’s challenges and victories, and her message is a testimony of not giving up.

During Kristi’s musical set, Mentele’s Diner will be serving the meal of pork loin sandwiches, corn, macaroni salad, chips and locally decorated sheet cake. Reverend Bob Adams will give the invocation.

A short business meeting will include the approval of last year’s minutes, a treasurer’s report and election of MCCR Board members. Other speakers during the meeting portion of the evening include: Jim Beddow from the Rural Learning Center, Kerstin Gorham from the Northwest Area Foundation and Loren Scott representing the Learning and Evaluation Team.

Because of feedback gathered at last year’s meeting, attendees will be given a published pamphlet to take home after the meeting. This pamphlet will outline some initiatives that MCCR has either facilitated or funded since its formation in 1999.

“We hope this pamphlet will serve two purposes,” MCCR Executive Director, Randy Parry said. “It will provide a look at what the community has worked together to accomplish over the past few years and will serve as an outline for the evening. We are very thankful for all of the volunteers, organizations and tax entities that have taken ownership of the county’s future.”

A PowerPoint slide presentation entitled “Reflections of 2002” will be accompanied by Miner County’s own Denny Mentele singing Montgomery Gentry’s hit single “My Town.” The presentation will feature images from Miner County and the past year’s events.

The public is invited to come to share in the evening. Anyone having questions regarding the meeting is encouraged to call the MCCR office at 772-5153.
