The Impact of Renewable Energy on the Economy of South Dakota
On Thursday, October 31, 2002, the Environmental Law and Policy Center (ELPC) held a press conference in Howard, SD.  The purpose was to announce the results of a study they commissioned showing the economic impact renewable energy could have on South Dakota. In all, the study suggests that 3,800 jobs and $275 million in economic growth could be created in South Dakota by 2020 if some federal and state policy changes occur.  The report sited Energy Maintenance Service (EMS) of Gary and Howard, SD as an example of what could happen in South Dakota.   Several regional paper reporters and government officials attended the conference.  An article from the Mitchell Daily Republic can be found on the MCCR website.   Job_Jolt_Image.jpg - 99825 Bytes
